What does Deryli consider important when teaching dance?

’My great wish is to help every dancer find the way to make ballet enjoyable. For a beginner, ballet classes can be associated with the following words: difficult, over-technical and boring. However, classical ballet provides dancers with a lot of useful and exciting elements, so I expect my students to have an open mind, ambition and patience to make the learning process interesting and enjoyable for everyone. It is important to me that there is open communication between the student and the teacher to create an environment where students are encouraged to experiment, try and make mistakes. In my classes, students gain a basic knowledge of classical ballet, the ability to use this knowledge to analyse and understand both the technical and the dancing aspects of ballet, the ability to pay attention to detail, and the ability to apply the skills learned in ballet to other dance styles.’
