Mark Monak

Mark started his dance career in 2003 at WAF Dance, where he studied various dance styles under the guidance of different teachers for 15 years: hip-hop, modern, show and contemporary dance. Over the years, he has studied at many dance schools and studios in Estonia and has collaborated with choreographers both in Estonia and abroad.
Mark has been working as a dance instructor and a choreographer since 2016, and today he also works as an artist and stage director.

Mark is the artistic director of the Dance Collective of Ivory.
The Collective of Ivory is a selective ensemble of young dancers from Studio dotE Dance School, focusing on performance art in dance and physical theatre under the direction of Mark Nathan Monak.

Mark's personal style has evolved through the intersection of different dance styles and essences. Therefore, he does not identify with only one particular style of dance, but seeks to find harmony in movement and creation through a blend of different styles.

What does Mark consider important in dance classes?

In his work, Mark focuses primarily on building trust between the teacher and the dancers, but he also feels that it is crucial to develop the dancer's creativity and confidence. Knowing that a dancer can feel safe while pushing their boundaries and working towards self-development, collective movement and breathing in unison is what Mark strives for.
