Janette Norkko

Janette’s dance journey began at the Estonian Dance Agency Dance School and continued at Tallinn University’s choreography department. At the same time, she has developed her skills under the guidance of Estonian and foreign choreographers such as Ricky Jinks, Julia Spiesser, and Ainsley Hall Ricketts. After graduating from university, Janette spent an extended period in London, where she received more individualized and intensive training in Lukas McFarlane’s SEEDS program and his other projects. Janette also developed her dance style by taking classes in various dance styles at dance studios in London. When creating movement, she lets herself be guided by her feelings and considers the development of a personal movement language and the ability to interpret it to be very important, which is why she does not want to confine her dance style to anything specific.

What do you consider important in dance classes?

Janette considers a safe and healthy environment for creative development to be important in dance classes, so that every student has the opportunity and courage to develop their own movement language. At the same time, she likes to offer challenges to work through, both as a team and individually, towards a common goal.
