The concept of dotE

dotE has developed a training concept based on the following principles:

Classical core and modern output

dotE aims to give dancers a strong core through training based on classical elements. This, in turn, is incorporated into contemporary dance.

In addition to the 2 x weekly core training sessions, dotE dancers are encouraged to choose one or more elective classes according to their preference.

A system of age-appropriate developmental goals

Developmental objectives are the foundation of the dotE training programme. These give children and parents a clear understanding of what to expect from the training, what is being done and why. Each age group has 5 developmental goals for a season. The goals encompass self-control, coordination, rhythm, posture and body control, flexibility, self-expression and creativity.

The curriculum of Studio dotE Dance School

Training at Studio dotE Dance School works on a yearly principle, which means commitment from the beginning until the end of the academic year. If there are places available, joining during the academic year is possible.

In the timetable you will find classes with the following markings:

1. Colour groups are regular groups, with lessons taking place twice a week. Each lesson lasts 45–60 minutes. Each colour group has its own developmental objectives which are set at the beginning of the school year. The developmental objectives give a clear idea of what to expect from the training sessions, what is being done in the class and why. Colour groups take their group routine to a competition or dance festival (unless otherwise agreed within the group). All colour groups perform in the dotE concert at the end of the school year.

2. Competitive teams are dotE selection groups with auditions at the beginning of each school year. The auditions assess the dancers' level of technique, speed of learning, presence and attitude. The classes of competitive teams take place once a week. Members of competitive teams attend both compulsory and elective classes.

3. Elective classes are dance classes that support both colour and competitive teams and take place once a week. Each class lasts 60–75 minutes.
