What do you consider important in dance classes?

For me, there are three important things in dance classes: training, self-expression, and so-called “life skills”. Through training, we support our bodies so that they can dance safely, with increasing mastery and diversity. I really like the athletic element of dance. Self-expression is the heart of dance - it is what brought most of us to dance and kept us there, and I think it is important to preserve and nurture it. Dance has taught me dedication, consistency, teamwork, responsibility, respect, work ethic, analytical and presentation skills, and much, much more. I try to pass this on to my students on their dance journey as well.
